Opinion: Should returning to office or WFH should be a choice?

When a pandemic hit, most of the companies allowed employees to work from home, even some of them became permanent like Twitter. Should it be a personal choice to return to the office or work from home? Most people enjoyed and became more productive; parents got to enjoy their little breaks with their kids, commute fares, expensive lunches, and coffees went to saving accounts. I don’t see why it shouldn’t be a personal choice, especially among tech companies.
